History and Events during WWII

Memorials and Points of Interest

  • See also: Links to this page
    • Beside main road - Monument to fallen fighters and Victims of Fascist Terror - 1951
    • According to https://www.spomenicinob.info/ljubinje, there is also a plaque on the elementary school from 1962, to commemorate preparations for attack on Prebilovci, Čapljina and Metković in 1942. Though the school burnt down in recent years, the plaque survives.
  • Youtube vid showing the memorial as well as other PoIs: https://youtu.be/SewXcmPZS0g?t=1801
    • Video starts at the time where there is some oral history about WWII, including the mentioning of a national hero, and fallen fighters
    • the memorial itself seems to be traditional, however, a bit further in the vid there is a site with a huge reversed conical obelisk, which is interesting by itself, but even more interesting if it is (related to) the memorial
